dc.description.abstractThis course is a general survey of the major theoretical tools and key policy issues concerning the field of International Economics, i.e. the economic links of the domestic economy with the rest of the world (RoW) and resulting policy issues. Key questions raised in the course include: Why do countries trade with each other? What determines the commodity composition and geographical distribution of international trade? How much do countries trade? What are the objectives and instruments of trade policy? What is the Balance of Payments, and what is it good for? Exchange rates: their determination and relevance. What is “globalization”, and how does it affect the national economy?en_US
