| Abstract: | --One of the key goals of this course is to help you improve your expository writing. Accordingly, your papers will be graded on English style as well as content. To help you improve your writing skills, you must purchase Diana Hacker’s A Pocket Style Manual. You should read this book carefully before writing your first paper, and then consult it again when writing your subsequent papers. Egregious spelling errors and violations of the rules of English usage, as well as gross ignorance of the basic principles of composition and style as explained by Hacker, will result in a lower grade. |
