Directed by Miki Whittles Shelton, this 1901 play is a fantastic tale that has been rarely staged in the United States. Characterized by Strindberg as a "mixture of memories, experiences, free fancies, incongruities, and improvisations," Dream Play describes a mythical journey that the daughter of the great Hindu deity, Indra, takes to Earth to learn how mankind lives. Due to the nature of dreams, time bends, fractures and the impossible becomes real.
