Abstract: | Providing an overview of moving image practices, this course will use the academic discipline of film studies to explore the aesthetic, structural, cultural, historical, and theoretical framework of cinema. Major topics include the language of film (narrative, cinematography, mise en scène, editing, sound), genre, authorship, ideology (race, gender, sexuality), global cinema, documentary, and avant-garde traditions. |
