Abstract: | This image shows a fragment from a larger sculpture known as "Portrait of the Four Tetrarchs," which is located at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy, and dates from the early 4th century CE. The fragment is carved from a purplish-red stone material called porphyry. This fragment shows a heel and a portion of the base of the original statue. This object was photographed at the Istanbul Archaeological Museums in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2011. |
