Abstract: | This image is from a collection created by Etta Hanson and given to the College in 1954. All items are from Otto Ege's estate. There is a typed description at the bottom of the mat, which reads: “The Ashendene Press, which printed this text, followed a middle course between the decorative magnificence of Morris’ Kelmscott Press and the classic severity of Cobden-Sanderson’s Doves Press. The type, Subiaco, is based on the type face use by Sweyheym and Pannartz in 1465. This large folio is considered one of the great achievements of this press.” |
