dc.description.abstractI. Course description This course presents the fundamentals of healthy and efficient voice production, as well as the use of the voice as an instrument of expression and persuasion. The main focus of the course is to practice the skills of oral presentation. II. Course objectives 1. You will deliver before an audience at least ten speeches, utilizing a variety of formats and demonstrating appropriate platform etiquette, healthy voice production, and the ability to project your voice without amplification. 2. You will demonstrate the ability to use your voice effectively as an instrument of expression and/or persuasion. 3. You will describe the ways in which you have improved your own speaking ability during the semester. 4. You will participate in a variety of exercises designed to increase your level of self-esteem. 5. You will demonstrate the ability to conceal your stage fright and appear confident in front of an audience. 6. You will recognize and name the characteristics of an effective speaker. 7. You will practice receiving constructive criticism and utilizing it to improve your speech delivery. 8. You will demonstrate the ability to write well crafted speeches and other written assignments that effectively convey your ideas and opinions. 9. You will demonstrate the ability to write short, appealing speech titles that inspire people to want to hear what you have to say.en_US
