Italian 101 is a basic course for students with little or no previous knowledge of Italian. In this course you will learn to communicate in Italian in common, everyday situations by developing your speaking and understanding skills. In addition, you will be developing your ability in reading and writing in Italian. Through a conversational-cultural approach this course will also introduce interesting facets of Italy, Italian culture, and contemporary Italian life. In order to achieve our goals, we will engage in a variety of different activities: dialogues, conversations, interviews, oral skits, games, compositions, videos, grammar-based exercises, and drills. Classes are taught in Italian and are devoted to the practice of Italian, focusing on comprehension and dramatization of different situations and contexts. Therefore, you are expected to come prepared to class: each day you will have to study the assigned sections and complete many exercises before class.en_US
