Abstract: This is a portrait of Phillip Kenneth Seidman wearing a dark suit and a red tie. His arms are over a chair and he is standing behind. There is a bookshelf in the background. The portrait is framed with a decorative gold frame and no glass. At the bottom center of the frame there is a plaque that reads “PHILLIP KENNETH SEIDMAN / 1907-1999 / MEMPHIS BUSINESSMAN, ECONOMIST, AUTHOR, CIVIC LEADDR, / RHODES LIFE TRUSTEE AND RECIPIENT OF THE COLLEGE’S / DISTINGUISHED SERVICE METAL AND HONORARY DOCTOR OF HUMANITIES DEGREE. HIS WISDOM AND GENEROSITY HAVE / TOUCHED THE LIVES OF GENERATIONS OF RHODES STUDENTS. / DEDICATED SEPTEMBER 14, 1989.”. There is an artist’s signature in red “ ’89 / TOM DONAHUE” at the bottom right corner of the portrait.
