Abstract: Artist's statement: "This painting addressed the rock like form/motif I had been referencing in a lot of my work, but in a physical way. This piece challenged me to think about this form in the sense of texture and three dimensionality rather than flat lines. The difficulties of painting such a textured still life object pushed me to address my lack of desire to render forms completely or use realism. I used a safe palette that I liked and was comfortable with so in the next piece I knew I wanted to further explore how color could create a conversation about depth and space." This is a digital photograph of Hannah Lewellen's still life painting. It was submitted as an assignment in the spring 2016 Intermediate/Advanced Painting class taught by Professor Erin Harmon.
