Burch, Porter, & Johnson

Abstract

The Burch, Porter and Johnson offices were designed by Ohio architect Edward Terrel in 1890. In the early 1980s, Awsumb and Williamson were the architects for the renovations. The building, which is in the style of beaux-arts, is located at 130 North Court Avenue in Downtown Memphis. The building is currently being used as an office. The building has Spanish, Mediterranean, and Moorish influences. It is made of stone. There is a large rounded turret on one side. There is a large dome on the rood. There are rounded and circular windows. The windows on the turret are placed asymmetrically. There is a horseshoe arch around a balcony, and there are many ogee arches around windows.
