dc.description.abstractThe Second Church of Christ, Scientist was built by architect Lucian Minor Dent in 1955. It is located at 3535 Central Avenue in East Memphis. The building features a curving entablature which is supported by large Ionic columns. The wings of the church features Doric style colonnades. There is tower with a circular base and a spire. There are Corinthian style columns around the tower. There are several bull’s-eye windows on the main façade of the building. The doorway is ornamented with Corinthian style engaged columns on either side of the door. There is a decorative pediment over the door. There is a fanlight over the door on the wing of the church. There is drip molding around the wing of the building. The building is made of brick. The church is Classical style. The façade is based on John Nash’s All Soul’s Church, Langham Place, in London.
