Abstract: The Butcher Shop building was designed in 1904 by architects Alsup and Woods. It is located at 101 South Front Street in Downtown Memphis. The building is in Beaux-Arts architecture style. The building is now abandoned, but it was originally a warehouse and then a restaurant. The building is made of brick. The building is practically covered with bas relief ornamentation. There are large amounts of quoining on the faade of the building. Rustication was also used in this building to give it a textured effect. The textured effect of the faade is also created by the large blind arch. The dates 1860 and 1909 appear on the faade along with the word ?Excelsior,? were added after the original construction of the building, presumably in 1909.
