The Georgia Avenue Elementary School was built in 1961 and designed by the Office of Walk C. Jones, Jr. The building is located at 690 Mississippi Boulevard in Downtown Memphis. It is modern in style. The building is made out of concrete, but features rows and rows of windows. The doors are brightly colored and make the building pop. The school is built on a slope, but the architects used this to their advantage making it two buildings connected by a bridge. The odd landscape on which the school was built gives the site character. For more information see Memphis: An Architectural Guide by Eugene J. Johnson.-
