Abstract: This is a digital photograph of Dylan Boutwell's painting. It was submitted as the first critiqued assignment, "Photo-volution," on February 8, 2017 in Erin Harmon's Intermediate/Advanced Painting class. The artist's statement reads: "Both flat and not, the surface is a combination of various materials. Spackling paste, outlined in red paint, engulfs a rendered pink and purple form. Thinly painted rectangular shapes overlays this form, and shrinks as it is repeated upwards, giving the illusion of receding into space. The amalgamation of different elements is an early attempt at questioning the flatness of painting."
Description: This image was photographed and uploaded to DLynx in the Visual Resources Center during spring 2017.
