This is a digital photograph of Erin Burman's painting. It was submitted as the first critiqued assignment, "Photo-volution," on February 8, 2017 in Erin Harmon's Intermediate/Advanced Painting class. The artist's statement reads: "Beneath a too-large sun hanging in a sickly brown sky, a crowd of protestors for an unnamed cause marches down a road. The crowd, barely differentiated into individual protestors, extends down the street along a perspective line until it blends into its environment. Fast, bold gestures define both the crowd and its surroundings, but the aggressive reds of the environment contrast with the mysterious blue of the protestors: the crowd opposes its environment but is at the same time a part of it. Uneasy and faced with insufficient information, we are unsure whether to take the protestors’ side."en_US
