Abstract: This is a digital photograph of Irene Shepley's painting. It was submitted as the first critiqued assignment, "Photo-volution," on February 8, 2017 in Erin Harmon's Intermediate/Advanced Painting class. The artist's statement reads: "Six individual paintings are woven in multiple ways together to make an indistinct object. It lives in the round and the viewer can peak into the inside of the dome. Garish colors like orange and poppy red were paired together to make the piece more shocking and not cohesive. Glimpses of eyes and mouths are visible in their patches, forcing the viewer to take time to look for different clues as to the content of this piece. There is a combination of quick gestures, rendered faces that are obscured by sweeping portions, and pattern. Some surfaces have built up textures, others are sandy, and some are thin. Future pieces will need to work on the display aspect so that all sides of the piece can be better observed."
Description: This image was photographed and uploaded to DLynx in the Visual Resources Center during spring 2017.
