Abstract: This is a digital photograph of Hope Hudson's mixed media artwork. It was submitted as the third critiqued assignment, "Not Flat," on April 4, 2017, in Erin Harmon's Intermediate/Advanced Painting class. The student's artist statement for this work reads: "This three dimensional work offers an abstracted figure, made of two white legs clad in a blue sack, who is conversing with a red mass that trails from beneath the sack-body and onto the floor. This piece's simplicity allows for ambiguity in its content- is this a serious medical emergency? A cartoonish figure who got into an accident? A popsicle who is melting? Different materials create visual interest even with a very limited color palette. I am excited to continue to develop this character, hopefully pushing their gender non-specificity further and to the forefront content-wise, as well as to consider further the potential for symbolism in formal choices and material."
Description: This image was photographed and uploaded to DLynx in the Visual Resources Center during spring 2017.
