Abstract: In physical chemistry, you will study again many of the topics that were introduced in the first two years of college chemistry. However, they will be approached more mathematically and more theoretically, and it will be necessary to apply the techniques of physics and mathematics as well as those studied up to now in chemistry courses. In Chemistry 311, we will study thermodynamics and its application to chemical systems, gas kinetic theory, and the theory of transport processes. In Chemistry 312, we will study reaction kinetics, quantum mechanics, spectroscopy, and statistical mechanics.
