Abstract: French 203 meets once weekly and is a co-requisite of French 201. In this class you will develop your French listening and speaking skills. You will be expected to increase your ability to manipulate an expanded body of French idioms through vocabulary presented in the Guide pratique de la communication and through systematic in-class performance of short dialogues found in the same text. Specific dialogues (and accompanying vocabulary) will be assigned throughout the semester and you are required to come to class ready to act them out. In order to master these dialogues, you will need to bring a blank, 90 minute cassette tape to the Language Center and have them recorded the first week of classes. Ask for the Guide pratique de la communication -- ABRIDGED version. You will use the recordings to help you with pronunciation and the rhythm of the dialogue BEFORE presenting them in class. Most weeks, you and a partner will also be asked to write your own short dialogue using the accompanying vocabulary you have studied in the first part of the Guide for that day.
