Abstract: This is an oil on canvas portrait by Paul Penczner of Edward B. LeMaster, a Rhodes College This an image of the portrait of E. B. LeMaster, Trustee. He is wearing a dark suit and tie and a white shirt and he is seated with his hands folded in his lap. It was painted in 1957. Lemaster Gateway on the south edge of the campus is named for Mr. LeMaster. The artist, Paul Joseph Penczner was born in 1916 in Hungary. After WWII he applied for permission to immigrate to the U. S. He and his wife immigrated in 1951 and settled in Memphis, Tennessee and he spent the next fifty years painting portraits of well-known southerners.
