| Abstract: | This is a portrait of John Henry Davis, The J. J. McComb Professor of History. He taught at Southwestern At Memphis, now Rhodes College from 1926 until he retired in 1969. Dr. Davis was a Rhodes Scholar and a founder of the College's tutorial system. In this portrait he is seated with his hands crossed in his lap. He is holding the faculty scepter in his left hand. His academic robe is open allowing his brown suit and red and black striped tie to show. |
