Abstract: | On Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 6:30 p.m., Valuing Our Impact on the Cultural Experiences of Students (VOICES), an umbrella organization for all groups that reside under Rhodes’ Office of Multicultural Affairs, presented its 1st Annual Dining for Diversity banquet. The purpose of the event was to bring people of various groups and cultures together to share a meal, conversation and entertainment. The theme was “Our Differences Are What Make Us Unique; Embracing Those Differences Is What Makes Us Strong.” In this picture,Shelby County Mayor, A C Wharton, was giving the keynote address. Other special guests included Pablo Davis, Executive Director of Latino Memphis, and Cindi Elliot, Director of Cultural Diversity Education and the Cultural Diversity group at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. Entertainment was provided by ASIA, RICE, Lipstick on Your Collar, and Alf Leyla we Leyla we Leyla (that′s Arabic for A Thousand and Two Nights). |
