| Abstract: | There is no better way to understand the practice of medical sociology than by conducting applied, fieldwork to address the causes of poor health and the barriers to health care access. For this reason, a major component of this course will involve applied research in a Memphis community known for its dismal epidemiological profile: the Hollywood/Springdale/Chelsea area (in zip code area 38108). |
