In the top left of the canvas's back has multiple tears. Artist biography: Peter Bowman was a part-time Instructor of Art at Rhodes College. President Bowden offered him the teaching position for the 1972-73 academic year. He taught two three-hour courses in Term I, two in Term II, and one in Term III. President Daughdrill and Dean Patterson requested that he remain on staff for the following school year and continue with the same course load. He continued teaching through the Spring of 1976 with the same course load. In the Fall of 1975, Professor Lawrence "Lon" Anthony (Chair of Art Department) and Dean Patterson requested that Bowman teach Drawing 300 during Term III while Anthony went on sabbatical. Dean Patterson sent Bowman another request for part-time teaching through the following academic years (Fall of 1976-Spring 1978). In 1988 Bowman presented his work in a group show at the Memphis Center for Contemporary Art, which closed in 1991. He also had two paintings shown at the Ledbetter Lusk Gallery in the 1997 show "Outside the Window." Both paintings were entitled "Untitled." He also had an exhibition from March 4-30, 1982 at the Clough-Hanson Gallery called "Paintings and Drawings."en_US
