Abstract: Plaque inscription:"Richard Halliburton, traveleer, author, lecturer, born 1900 and lost at see 1939. This tower is dedicated to memorialize his wonderful life of action, romance and courage. Erected by his parents, Wesley and Nelle Nance Halliburton (1961 - 1962). In daring a modern Icarus he flew too near the sun. 'I wanted freedom, freedom to indulge in whatever caprice struck my fancy, freedom to search in the farthermost corners of the earth for the beautiful, the joyous and the romantic.' - The Royal Road to Romance."
