His untiring energy, tenacity of purpose, and his vision of a greater Southwestern were largely responsible for the removal of this institution to Memphis, and its entrance upon a career of more rapid progress and wider usefulness. As a tribute to his faithful, untiring, and successful labors and as a mark of their esteem and affection the student body of Southwestern have erected this tablet on the occasion of his completing his tenth year as President of this institution.
