The Girl's Basketball Team of 1929

Abstract

Louise Stratmann is in the middle bottom of the image of the 1929 girl's basketball team. She was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000. She was a member of the first graduating class after the College was moved to Memphis and she helped establish the first women's basketball team at the College. She organized a group of women known as the "Kittens" who played basketball. She also organized a women's baseball team. After graduating, she became the first director of women's physical education at Rhodes and held that position until 1944.
