Alpha Theta Phi Honorary Fraternity Collection home page

Alpha Theta Phi was a local honorary scholastic fraternity that began in the 1920s. Membership in this fraternity was the highest scholastic honor a student could attain at Southwestern. Membership was by election and an award was given at Commencement to the senior with the highest graduating GPA. An article in the S’W from 1929 states that Alpha Theta Phi petitioned the national honor society, Phi Beta Kappa, for a chapter to be established at Southwestern.
