Abstract: This course is designed to develop representational drawing skills and a critical approach to form and content. Through the process of drawing students will learn to interpret three-dimensional reality on a two dimensional surface. The course will consist of in-class and homework assignments supplemented with regular technical demonstrations, critiques, and slide lectures. We will work primarily from observation. The subjects will include still life, landscape, and portraiture. In addition the students will be challenged to find drawing sources in their everyday world and develop a personal relationship with the act of drawing.
