Abstract: The primary goal of this course is to introduce you to the basic principles of geographic information science (GIS). GIS is used in countless fields to answer problems that are geographic in nature, and representatives from many of these disciplines will be here during the semester. Additionally, this course is intended to teach you how to use ArcGIS, the most commonly used GIS application in the United States. The ArcGIS software package consists of several components, many of which we will use in various lab projects. You will use ArcGIS to complete lab projects, as well as to develop your final project.
