The fourteen maps in this collection were given to Rhodes College over a period of years in the 1950s by Mr. and Mrs. Herbert D. Warner of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Mrs. Mildred Westervelt Warner was a passionate collector of vintage atlases and maps as well fine art and antiques. These items were added to by her son Jack Warner to form a collection which has been described as “…the finest privately held collection of American art in the world.”
