The Shelby County Office Building at 157 Poplar Ave in Downtown Memphis was designed by A.L. Aydelott and Associates in 1959. The building is Modern, but it borrows from the Corbusian architectural style. There are thin glass screens in layers on the upper portion of the building. There is considerable space under the pilotis which supports the top half of the building. The building is made of concrete. The upper portion of the building is covered in strip windows. There is bas relief ornamentation on the sides of the building where there are not strip windows. To learn more see Memphis: An Architectural Guide by Eugene J. Johnson.en_US
