| Abstract: | The Exchange Building was designed by Neander Montgomery Woods. Jr, in 1910. The high-rise building is located at 9 North Second Street in Downtown Memphis. Built mostly of steel and concrete, the Exchange building was built in the style of beaux-arts. Elements of classicism appear in features such as the triumphal arch in the center of the facade of the entrance on Second Street. An order of engaged columns accentuate the arch on the top floors. A French chateau of copper shapes the rooftop of the building. In 1979, the Exchange Buidling was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and today it functions as rental apartments.
