Abstract: | The J.O.E Beck House was built in 1982 and was designed by J. O. E. Beck. Beck was not a registered architect, but was considered a gifted designer. It is located at 684 South Willett Street in Central Gardens. This house is abstract. There are Art Deco influences, but this house should be classified as a part of the Modern architecture style. It features many right angles and strong lines. It is a very minimalist structure. There is no ornamentation other than the square shapes of the house itself. The exterior of the house is made of stucco. It is a part of the most eclectic streetscape in Memphis. To learn more see Memphis: An Architectural Guide by Eugene J. Johnson. |
