Description: This is an interview with Mr. Herman Gary. Gary was born and raised in North Memphis. After serving in the Army in the 1950s, Gary lived in Washington, D.C. where he worked for the Department of Transportation. After retiring, he returned to his childhood neighborhood. In this clip, Gary shares his experience working for the Department of Transportation and his interactions with racism while being employed there.
