Abstract: Old Growth was commissioned as one of three entry gateways to the Old Forest State Natural Area in Overton Park. It can be found off East Parkway. It is a gift of Henry & Lynne Turley and Bill & Becky Deupree. Built from layers of hand-cut and welded plate steel, the archways form is highly evocative of familiar patterns of natural growth. The outward accumulation of layers mimic a myriad of organic forms - fungi, fossils, and more. While they suggest the annual growth rings of trees, they are not content in illustrating a single organism, but rather strive to evoke a universal natural process.
