Plaque inscription: "Charles Diehl, the father of Southwestern at Memphis. His untiring energy, tenacity of purpose, and his vision of a greater Southwestern were largely responsible for the removal of this institution to Memphis, and its entrance upon a career of more rapid progress and wider usefulness. As a tribute to his faithful, untiring, and successful labors and as a mark of their esteem and affection the student body of Southwestern have erected this tablet on the occasion of his completing his tenth year as President of this institution. May 1927."en_US
