Memphis World Memphis World Publishing Co. 1970-10-24 J. A. Beauchamp Was The Lone Ranger Black ? As a matter of fact, one out of every four cowboys in the founding of the West was black. Maybe not beautiful, but black. And that little fact has been hidden under a nice coat of white wash. Until now. On TV. The Black Frontier. Not only were lone rangers black... but there were plenty of black cavalry men, railroaders, homesteaders, rivermen... and you know what? They made history, too. There are other black shows. For instance: Black Journal. Once a month we keep you in touch with the whole black community, and that baby is all over the place. Black Journal is things they won't show you on the lily-white news. Things you gotta know. And then there's Soul! Soul is rhythm and rock and the first black talk show all wrapped up in one. Produced by blacks for blacks and while that doesn't automatically mean it's a great show... it just happens to be a great show. Black Frontier, Black Journal and Soul! Now that's Color television!
