Abstract
Artist's statement: "This painting explores the idea of nostalgia and memories with the composition of a patchwork quilt. The heavily patterned fabrics laden with thick paint lines played with the depth of the landscapes. The piece seemed a bit too disconnected at some points because of the imagery and composition. It helped me think about making quick and bold marks to cover up and image as well as help it stand out. I especially was able to work with this aspect when using the buff color paint." This is a digital photograph of Hannah Lewellen's painting. It was submitted as an assignment in the spring 2016 Intermediate/Advanced Painting class taught by Professor Erin Harmon.
