Abstract
The Levitt Shell was built in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration as a part of the New Deal. It was designed by architect Max Furbringer. It is located at 1928 Poplar Avenue in Overton Park which is part of the Midtown area of Memphis. The Levitt Shell can be described best as a part of the Modern architectural style. The Shell is made out of reinforced concrete. There are layers to create the spherical shape. There are two large rectangular wings on either side of the Shell. There is a stage.
