Abstract
This image is from a collection created by Etta Hanson and given to the College in 1954. All items are from Otto Ege's estate. The leaf was contained and mounted in a mat created by Otto Ege, as are all other leaves in this collection. There is a handwritten description at the bottom of the mat, which reads: “Circa 1240 A.D. England. Dominican Patria Bible. Holes show scarcity of vellum”. There is also a label attached to the front of the mat, which reads: “L 33. Circa 1240 A.D. England. Vulgate Bible. Vellum (7 ½ x 5 ½ inches). Two columns, 48 lines of well-executed angular Gothic script. 9 lines to the inch, with decorative initial letters in red and blue. These English Dominican miniature Bibles are comparatively rare.”
