Abstract
This image is from a collection created by Etta Hanson and given to the College in 1954. All items are from Otto Ege's estate. The leaf was contained and mounted in a mat created by Otto Ege, as were all other leaves in this collection. There is a handwritten description at the bottom of the mat, which reads: "The ninth German bible, the only one issued in that language by Antonio Koberger (or Koburger), the most prolific go the great fifteenth century printers. He produced no less than fifteen editions of the Bible in Latin. The text is apparently based on the Cologne Low German Bible. Luther, in referring to this edition of Koberger’s, declared that “no one could speak German of this outlandish kind.” (Hain 3137)
