Abstract
This is an image of a print created with etching and engraving process on a copper plate. It was printed intaglio on Rives BFK paper. It shows a predatory bird with claws extended. This artwork is part of the Rhodes College Art Department Collection. This is a picture of a bird in flight, wings down. Bottom left reads "Flight, the bottom center reads "9/25" in graphite, bottom right reads the artist's signature "Evan Lindquist." Off-white matting and dark wooden frame surround the piece. On back, sticker in bottom left corner reads "LINDQUIST / $45.00," and the bottom center has information of the framing company. Top right reads "89.41" in red ink.Evan Lindquist is an American artist and printmaker, and Artist Laureate for Arkansas, 2013-2017. He has concentrated on the medium of copperplate engraving for more than 50 years. In 1950 Lindquist began working as a self-employed calligrapher and engrosser. He served as Staff Artist in the Graphic Arts and Printing departments at Emporia State University. He worked there until 1960 when he studied printmaking at the University of Iowa, earning a M.F.A. degree in printmaking. In 1963 he began teaching in the Art Department at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro until he retired in 2003. He was awarded the rank of Emeritus Professor of Art.
