Abstract
This is a portrait of William Mcfadden Alexander. In it, Alexander is dressed in black with a white bowtie. His eyes are not directly at the viewer and the background is dark. It has a gold frame with brown sides. There is an artist signature “E. Calvere / 1911” in the left side in red. There is a plaque on the bottom of the frame in the center that reads “WILLIAM McFADDIN ALEXANDER, D.D.,LL.D. / 1861-1844 / DIRECTOR, SOUTHWESTERN PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY 1902-1925 / DIRECTOR, SOUTHWESTERN AT MEMPHIS 1925-1940 / PRESENTED BY PRYTANIA STREET PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, NEW ORLEANS, / MRS. ALEXANDER AND THEIR DAUGHTER, MRS. M. T. McCLURE”.
