Abstract
In this course students will examine the search for values and meaning from the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment to the present. They will consider how the various intellectual movements have impacted human thought and actions during the early modern and modern eras. They will also investigate whether modern western civilization has fulfilled or broken the promises of the Enlightenment. To do so, students will be subjecting representative documents to historical analysis.
