Abstract
This is an image of the Sears Crosstown Building at 495 N. Watkins in Memphis, Tennessee.
On August 8, 1927, Mayor Rowlett Paine cut a red ribbon officially opening the eleven storied, brand-new Sears, Roebuck Catalog Order Plant and Retail Store. It was the 14th buiding Sears had opened in just two. It quickly grew into one of the largest retail centers in the city.
