Abstract
This image shows a carved stone panel that is an architectural component called a metope. The carving shows two men holding shields and spears. It is from the Trophy of Trajan (also known as Tropaeum Traiani), which is a large monument commemorating Roman Emperor Trajan's victory over the Dacians, in 102, in the Battle of Tapae. The monument is located in modern Adamclisi, Romania. This metope dates from the early 2nd century CE. It was photographed at the Istanbul Archaeological Museums in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2011.
