Abstract
General Description: This medal was issued in Germany by the Volkswanderung (walking club) in 1979.
Obverse Description: The obverse features a protuding relief of Michelangelo, with his birth year on the left side and death year on the right. Surrounding the picture of Michelangelo is the inscription: "MICHELANGELO DI LUDOVICO DI LIONARDO BUONAROTI SIMONI." Surrounding the perimeter of the medal are the tops of Roman columns. Attached to the top of the medal by two chains is an artist's pallette with two brushes inserted through the handle.
Reverse Description: The reverse side shows the date the medal was issued, 1979, and that is surrounded by the following inscription: "10 INTERNAT. VOLKSWANDERUNG WALD B'O'CKELHEIM." The center of the medal also has the inscription "WFW." The pallette portion of the medal has no decoration on this side. based on the pin attached, it might have been made to be worn.
