Abstract
This is a portrait of Loyd C. Templeton, Jr. wearing a navy blue suit with a navy and red striped tie. Templeton is standing with his left hand in his pocket. The artist’s signature, “TOM DONAHUE ‘02” is written in red at the bottom right corner of the portrait. The portrait is surrounded by a decorative gold frame with no glass. There is a plaque in the bottom center of the frame that reads: LOYD C. TEMPLETON, JR. / 1934 / An alumnus of the Class of 1956, he joined the college as director of development in 1968. He went on to serve as director of communications and special events and as special assistant to Presidents Alexander, Bowden, Daughdrill, and Troutt. He was instrumental in the founding of McCoy Theatre, McCoy Visiting Artists Program, the Moss Art Lecture Series, the Springfield Music Lectures and played an integral role in the architectural design and interiors of new construction on campus until his retirement in 2002. / Dedicated January 30, 2002”.
